A Space to Innovate

My brief was to create a destination feel for the University Enterprise Zone (UEZ). UEZ is one way in which UWE engages with, and contributes to, the wider UK economy. It provides a business ‘hatchery’, incubation and grow on space for businesses specialising in robotics, bio-sciences, bio medicine and other high tech areas . It’s a 4,000 square metre building with laboratory space, offices and workshops, share start-up ‘studio’ space, communal space for networking and meeting, access to specialist equipment and technical support and business services. It houses Future Space, Launch Space, Health Tech Hub, BRL technology Incubator and BRL.

The proposition was : UNIVERSITY ENTREPRISE ZONE | Innovation happens here

My idea was to use physical lines/ vinyls to create ‘Spaces’. The possibilities in the UEZ are endless… It is where ideas and possibilities are not contained or constrained… So I wanted to give the idea that the people using this space are filling it with the substance. By creating lines or archways and spaces to walk through to give an idea of this being the ‘space’ to do that. This is the building that provides the ‘spaces to innovate’.
